Rain, Reschedules, and Real Smiles: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at a Memorable Family Shoot
Sometimes the best memories come from the moments that don’t go according to plan. That’s exactly what happened during one of my recent family shoots—and it reminded me why I love what I do.
After four reschedules (yes, four!) thanks to our famously unpredictable recent Gold Coast weather, we finally set a date that looked perfect on paper. Clear skies. A gentle breeze. Everything was set for a beautiful outdoor family session.
But as we started capturing those sweet family moments, the clouds rolled in, and before we knew it—the sky opened up and it poured mid-shoot. Everyone was drenched!
And you know what? The family didn’t just roll with it—they laughed, played, and made the most of it. We kept shooting, capturing the drips and the giggles, the spontaneous hugs, and even a few soggy but priceless moments.
In the end, those unplanned moments are the ones that truly tell the story. Real smiles. Real memories. And a story this family will never forget.
Lessons Learned: Why I Love Imperfect Moments
📸 The Imperfect is Beautiful
It’s not always the posed shots that matter most—it’s the laughter, the messiness, the spontaneous hugs that really capture a family’s spirit.
🌧️ Outdoor Sessions Bring Surprises
While the outdoors can be unpredictable (to say the least!), it also brings a sense of adventure. Every shoot is different, and that’s part of the magic.
🏠 Studio Sessions Have Their Place Too
For families who prefer a bit more predictability (and a little less mud!), studio sessions offer a cozy, controlled environment—no umbrellas needed! With beautiful lighting and plenty of space to play, they’re a great option for families who want a relaxed, stress-free experience, no matter what’s happening outside.
Your Story, Rain or Shine
Whether it’s on the beach, in a garden, or in the studio, my goal is to capture your family’s unique story—complete with all its laughter, love, and even a little rain.
💌 Ready to book your own session (or chat about whether a studio or outdoor session is right for you)? I’d love to connect and help you create memories you’ll treasure forever.
